The father of behavioral optometry

Arthur Martin Skeffington Wiki page

Some selected writings of AM Skeffington or about the man. Lot’s more to come

This was found in a box of papers from the library of Robert A. Kraskin, OD sent to Paul Harris by Jeffery Kraskin.

This was written in 1959 and was one of that many of us got and saw over the years. Bob’s comment:

This was presented at the last meeting Skeffington attended and it was read by a colleague.

Here is another paper that was written by Skeffington but read by a colleague. It is one of the very few where he addresses more in depth, qualities of the fourth circle and how it all fits into the overall process of vision.

This piece encapsulates Skeffington’s philosophy of behavioral vision care very nicely and is a great place to start with gaining insight into how the father of behavioral optometry thought. The piece evolved over time and is difficult to assign a specific date.
