BALL GAMES - Circles Around Head

NOTE: Jes Felix demonstrates this standing in the video. The activity can be done either standing or seated. The patient should stand or sit on a chair directly under the point where the string is attached, initially wearing a patch. Adjust the height of the ball if necessary, so that the therapist swings the ball in wide circle AROUND the patient. (See the video further down on the screen to see how to throw the ball in circles.) The patient should follow the ball with their eyes, picking it up with their eye as soon as they see it and following it as long as they can without moving the head. Then the eyes should quickly jump to other side so they can immediately see the ball as soon as it comes around. Reverse direction of ball, also reverse patch. Then repeat the process, using both eyes together.

Here, Jes Felix shows the Circles Around Head activity.
