The course will be case based rather than flowing through separate parts for theory, testing, and treatment. We will begin with a patient encounter, one who helped us change our own direction.
Why do patients come to see us?
Case history – check sheet but not so detailed…get into some Q&A back and forth to develop
What are the tools we use? Ex: Ret, VA, Wolff Wand, etc. phoropter, prisms.
Why do we go into the dark little room? Meaning, what are the behavioral optometric insights we get from our interactions with our patients?
Initial impressions of how a person accepts stress and recovers from stress.
The space concepts of Bruce Wolff will be shared:
Inward - centripetal
Outward - centrifugal
Size differences
Most visual problems are problems of omission, not commission.
Flow to the 4 circles: but not from the idea of presenting the 4 circles as a thing but bringing in elements of it as necessary to understand the visual process and human behavior. We will use attribute blocks to help understand set theory to then move into the 4-circles.
The visual process becomes visible through the behavior of the individual.
The basis of visual development is the ability to successfully direct movement, and the outcome of movement is the basis for successful visual development.
Language is important and it helps us structure the case history, which is an integral part of the visual process.

Then cases for you to analyze and come back with your approach.
